Well, I've just about recovered from the weekend at “The Rock & Roll Circus Events Charity Xmas Bash”.
We started to plan this event more than a twelve month ago, and after such a cracking line up in year four, this year was always going to be a challenge. With Paul booking the Punk bands for the Friday and myself booking the bands for the Saturday, I think we managed to get some great bands to come to The Dolls House again this year. We had a great night on Friday with some quality Punk rock from System Reset, ILL FATE, Deathtraps, Terminal Rage & Knock Off. Saturday I have to say, even though I booked the bands, the line up was one of the best I've witnessed in one day! I had to pinch myself to see that it was real! Kicking off with a new local band, The Long Tenon, the quality bands kept coming. With The Sourheads, Hollowstar, At The Sun, Ryders Creed, New Device, Wicked Stone and then one of the finest bands in South Wales were up, with front man Nev MacDonald, the Hand Of Dimes put in another stella performance. I still can't believe they agreed to play for us! Finishing off the night & their UK Tour on Saturday, Skam put in another quality performance. A band that never disappoint and are always a pleasure to see at our events.
I would like to thank all the bands for agreeing to come and play for us on the weekend. Also I need to thank Andrew, Carl, Craig, Lucy and all the staff at The Dolls House for all their hard work on the weekend and at all our other events throughout the year. Thanks to our team on the weekend, Dan the bucket man, Drew for taking photos on Friday, Fish for his patience in selling raffle tickets and folding them all to put in the bucket, our sound guys Trevor, Nick & their apprentice, my mate Martyn for making sure everyone got where they wanted to go in the minibus, drum tech Lee & to the legend Chris Badaxe Heath for keeping everything running smoothly between bands.
Most of all I would like to thank everyone that bought tickets & travelled from all over the UK to Abertillery to support our Annual Charity Event and digging deep into their pockets to buy raffle tickets & bidding in the auction.
A special thanks goes to Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art for continually coming up with great artwork for our posters and for instantly updating them when needed.
This year we were raising funds for Stepping Stones Appeal at Velindre Cancer Centre Cardiff and I'm pleased to say we managed to raise £1,150 to go to the charity.
Not ones for hanging around, we announced the line up for The Rock & Roll Circus Events Charity Xmas Bash VI. Bands announced were:
Bands for the Friday - Kid Klumsy, Pizzatramp, 3 Stone Monkey, Terminal Rage & Hacksaw.
Bands for the Saturday - Everyday Heroes, Primitai, The Rocket Dolls, New Generation Superstars, Concrete Kingdoms, Kikamora, White Raven Down, Witch Tripper & The Philo Beddoe Band.
From myself & Paul, I thank you for your continued support for The Rock & Roll Circus Events. We hope you have a great Christmas break and we will see you in 2019 for more "Original" Live Music.
