I saw these guys about five years ago somewhere in Wales. They were great live but I didn’t grab a disc as I was skint. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this album as blues rock bands can sound samey in my opinion, this however is different enough to stand out whilst retaining the blues rock ethic. Well interesting use of beat, which gives you the sense that they have spent time playing round with things and not just slammed a 4:4 down which in turn has created a wide assortment of vibes. Nice to hear the bass moving to compliment the drums playing at times around the beat and very well, great rhythm section consisting of LD Morawski and Josh Zahler. There is some very tasty guitar work from Paul Bowe and Kyle Ross, bags of feel and well thought out solos and rhythm lines, clever use of different sounds and guitars keep your attention on what is coming next.

So this sounding great so far but it keeps getting better.

The icing on the cake for me is Tom Guyer’s voice and the confident way he uses it. This guy has a huge range and beautiful tone, along with great use of harmonies it takes these guys from being a pretty damn good band to the astral plain and back enlightened. It's easy to overdo backing vocals but I love the way these guys have worked this out, as it sits so well. It is also lyrically stimulating, as there is a wide variety of subjects covered from closing down venues to the current government’s failures with the NHS, not your usual choices for blues rock. To sum up then, bags of feel and very well written and thought out songs, couple that with a great production from John Simms and the band you have a winning formula. It's got balls where needed, but also some sadness and a great sense of maturity, its got more groove than Glastonbury and I know my wife is not gonna stop playing it.

Top effort. Defo buy this album.
