I have to say when this arrived in my inbox I did smile, having seen these fellas live a few times, I had to have a listen.

The clue is in the band name.
Chemistry.

The track starts off with a fairly edgy intro with some cool use of phase. Then you get an instant kick in the guts; imagine driving a car at 70 miles an hour into a wall. The verse hits you instantly and pretty hard, very cool riffage, tight rhythm section and some pretty hardcore vox from Matt.

Followed by some power chords and stabs which would fell a horse, pretty mahoosive, then you get the genius of these guys. The chorus section is in some weird ass timing that has me counting in seventeens, with a harsh yet still very melodic vocal section. Some seriously tight stuff here; riffage to rival Tremonti and drums and bass to rival AB... very impressive.

Now I do like a band that know how to use light and shade, these boys certainly do. One minute you're heading into oblivion, fully prepared to die covered in the life blood of your enemies, next thing you know you are transcending, achieved ascention about to meet your God.

Everything drops away to leave guitar, drums and vox, beautifully summing up the versatility of this band and of Matt as a vocalist: A voice that could scare the devil but can also soothe the angels, dropping away to a single guitar line leaving you almost suspended. The space within music is as important as what fills it, in my opinion anyway. The track then ends with a build up to rival any I've heard, terminating in a standard three chord progression, however perfectly excecuted, you can feel the vibe.

Having now heard the full EP all 4 tracks are impressive to say the least and I am happy to point out that this is undoubtedly one of the best Metal/Grungecore bands to come out of South Wales for a long time. There is a brooding menace to this EP which is reflected also in the production. These guys deserve to do well , a support with someone like Gojira would be a pretty reasonable expectation for a band of this calibre and would expect them to do very well on the underground festival circuit so come on all you promoters out there, check them out please.

To sum up BWC.

Pretty mature and clever writing, heavy as a two tonne heavy thing, yet still incredibly melodic. In an ideal world these fellas will do well, they certainly deserve to. Hats off to Matt, Chris, Murph, Gizz and Dan. Great EP which does an amazing job of showing the world what you are capable of.
