Track one, “Automatic Thrill”, explodes into life and demands your full attention. Fast paced, aggressive and absolutely frill free, it sets the bar for the rest of the album.

Next up is “Murder City”, which ratchets up the adrenaline ride another notch from the opener. This is a made for moshing track with dirty, raw and superb riffage throughout, it’s everything a punk rock song should be.

Track three, “Track Marks and Lullabies”, is another energy soaked, riff heavy song with powerful lyrics and vocals in equal measure. Instantly relatable, this catchy chorus will be in your head for days.

“Get Loose” is perfectly placed to give the album an overall dynamic flow. The pace may be slower but its impact is in no way reduced. Lyrically this is as insightful as it is raw. The core message of rebellion that underpins the genre is very much alive and well with this band.

Track five, “Bittersweet and Dangerous”, has a classic old school punk rock feel to it. The drum and main guitar, which is beautifully toned, team up brilliantly to frame the vocals on the song. This track wouldn’t seem out of place on an album by The Damned.

“Fucked Up” kicks the album back up into overdrive where Deathtraps are at their irreverent and anthemic best. This song played live is guaranteed to whip any crowd into a frenzy.

Next up is “Bored Of You”, which starts with a delicious little guitar riff and opens up into easily one of my favourite tracks on the album. This song serves as a call to all those on the fringes of society, the misfits, the discriminated, the line, “I’d rather be a misfit than be a part of this shit”, sums it up way better than any reviewer ever could. Brilliant musicianship, lyrics and vocals. A stand out track.

Track eight, “Teenage Knife Crime”, is made for live audience participation. With it’s easy to remember lyrics and a melody that demands a shout along, rather than sing along, everyone can get involved and scream themselves hoarse. This one is guaranteed to get the crowd going.

A simple bass line walks you into “Gotta Get Some”, the albums title track. The song quickly builds as the drum and rhythm guitar join the fray. It’s all about the hugely catchy melody and sing along chorus on this one. “Gotta Get Some” is an obvious choice for the flagship track. It’s just like the band themselves, once heard, never forgotten.

Track ten, “Know Your Rights”, is a lyrically savvy, social commentary on the mindset of a growing number in present times. The overall feel of the track is absolutely in keeping with the weight of the subject matter. A heady mix of aggressive guitar tones and angry vocals is tempered supremely well with a lead guitar which adds a soulful, sad element. This song is a perfect example of the maturity of their song writing.

Next up is “Fan Clubbing”, which is dripping in irony. It’s not so much a tongue in cheek sideswipe at fan clubs and the individuals that have them, it’s more of a middle finger held unwavering for the full duration of the song. Clever and contagious, this is an instant favourite.

The last song, “The Death Of Rock N Roll”, is an energy packed, full on assault of punk rock at it’s finest. This is another track that would, without doubt, ignite a live audience as it crescendos.

“Gotta Get Some” delivers on so many levels and every listen throws up something new. People will love this album for many different reasons, but first and foremost, it’s a brilliantly raw, no holds barred, white knuckle ride that should be in your record collection. Music that matters should always reflect the culture of the time. Not only do Deathtraps inherently understand this, they have absolutely nailed it with this release. Highly recommended!
